“Integral” marks the second collaboration between German electronic music pioneer Asmus Tietchens and sound artist Fabio Perletta. The album follows 2017's “Deflections”, released by German label aufabwegen.
Fabio Perletta is a sound artist, professor and curator living and working in Italy. In his work, he explores the tensions and equilibriums that coexist between presence and space, silence and noise, focus and perception. He seeks to create expanded experiences in which he unveils the complexity, multiplicity, and transient nature of auditory realities, with a cross-language addressed to a shared subjectivity that often employs unconventional forms of participation. His research pivots on the ambiguity between the material and immaterial, fostering their entanglement and divergence within the same vocabulary.
His work encompasses recorded compositions, performances, site-specific installations, text scores, online projects and participative actions, appearing worldwide at festivals and art spaces like A×S Festival (Pasadena), Human Resources (Los Angeles), BlueProject Foundation (Barcelona), Arts Santa Mònica (Barcelona), Pollinaria (Civitella Casanova), El MAMM (Medellín), Ultima Festival (Oslo), Ryosokuin Temple (Kyoto), Listude (Nara), Bonjour! (Kyoto), Komyoji (Tokyo), Ftarri (Tokyo), MoMA (Wakayama), Café OTO (London), Standards (Milan), TOdays Festival (Turin), roBOt Festival (Bologna), Auditorium Parco della Musica (Rome), Mattatoio (Rome), among others. He has participated in various artistic residencies including Aequusol MMXX (Civitella Casanova), EMS Elektronmusikstudion (Stockholm), Sonitus (Modena), VOLUME (Los Angeles), Aqua Matrix (Bagnoli Irpino) and mAtter (Japan).
Perletta’s solo and collaborative recordings are documented on Room40, LINE, Dragon’s Eye Recordings, Superpang, aufabwegen, Dinzu Artefacts, Granny Records and his own imprint 901 Editions. Founded in 2008, his label has since released more than 50 sound art and experimental music editions by established and emerging international artists.
In 2014, he co-founded Mote Studio in Berlin with artist Davide Luciani. The studio guides its research through the creation and direction of sound and spatial installations, audiovisual pieces and publication works.
Since 2014, he has co-curated Lux, an artistic program dedicated to presenting visual artists working with sound, promoting solo and group exhibitions of artists like William Basinski and James Elaine, Thomas Koner, Arnold Dreyblatt, France Jobin and others.
He is currently a professor of sound design at ISIA University in Pescara, Italy.
